Chili

In case you didn’t notice from the number of chili-like recipes here, I rather enjoy chili. This tangy chili is pretty simple, and very satisfying. In case you didn’t notice from the number of chili-like recipes here, I rather enjoy chili. This tangy chili is pretty simple, and very satisfying.

Cincinnati Chili

I’ve been going to Hard Times Cafe for ages, and that was the first place that exposed me to chili with cinnamon in it. It was life-changing. Seriously. Cinnamon with beef?! It kinda blew my mind. Here’s my take on it. Want to make the “original” from HTC? They sell their mixes!I’ve been going to Hard Times Cafe for ages, and that was the first place that exposed me to chili with cinnamon in it. It was life-changing. Seriously. Cinnamon with beef?! Recipe Notes

Want to make this in the slow cooker? Just follow step 1, and then throw everything into the slow cooker for about 6 hours. It's going to be a bit soupy, which is fine, because that's how Cincinnati chili is supposed to be served.

Pulled Pork

Ingredients

  • 6lbs boneless pork shoulder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne
  • 1 tbsp salt

Directions

  1. Cover the pork with the spices.
  2. Throw it in a slow cooker, and cook on low for 12+ hours. You’ll know it’s done when the pork starts to completely fall apart on its own.
  3. Shred the pork and serve on its own, or add some Smoky BBQ Sauce.
